BAS Weekly Targeted Trainings ** Special Presenter**

Weekly targeted trainings on various waiver specific topics will be conducted every Thursday from 1-2pm starting February 11th. Topics will be advertised in advance and attendance is voluntary. Trainings will be conducted on Adobe Acrobat meeting via online and requires participants to have access to a computer with sound output. Registration is not required; however, BAS will track attendees who do participate in the training. Please note that only 95 computers will be able to log in for any particular training session, so BAS allows for your agency to have multiple people at one computer. Assistive Technology
 

This one hour presentation will provide an overview of assistive technology and Pennsylvania resources. 

Learner Objectives:  Attendees will be able to

(a)   Describe the federal definition of AT devices and services

(b)   Give at least one example of low, mid, and high tech AT devices

(c)   Provide an example of AT that will assist an individual with disabilities in each of at least five functional areas

(d)   List two “access” and two “acquisition” activities undertaken by Pennsylvania’s Initiative on Assistive Technology and its regional assistive technology resource centers (ATRC).

(e)   Identify the assistive technology resource center serving their region

Presenter:  Amy S. Goldman is an associate director of the Institute on Disabilities at Temple University where she directs Pennsylvania’s Initiative on Assistive Technology (PIAT), as well as Pennsylvania’s Assistive Technology Lending Library and the Telecommunication Device Distribution Program.  Amy has specialized in AAC throughout her long career as a speech-language pathologist.
